Spray.Bike

Spray.Bike

Spray.Bike is a revolutionary color coating spray designed for both amateurs and professionals in the world of cycling. It's like magic paint that makes bicycle painting, which is typically challenging for amateurs, easy to achieve. Unlike traditional metal or automotive paint, it is suitable for steel, aluminum, and carbon components.

Spray.Bike paint provides a drip-free, dribble-free, and mistake-free dry matte powder coating that forms a deep and thick layer with just one coating.

Spray.Bike is extremely user-friendly and perfect for bike repairs, restorations, and refreshments. Give a new coat to your old frame with peeling paint or create your custom bike to enjoy the ride in your unique style.

How To Use Spray.Bike

Preparation

Spray.Bike paint adheres to most metals and painted surfaces with little to no major preparation required. However, when painting over a high-gloss finished painted bike, lightly sand the frame with very fine sandpaper or abrasive cloth to give the surface a slight "bite" for the paint to adhere to. Ensure that all surfaces are completely clean and free from grease. Any residue left from degreasers or cleaning agents can hinder proper adhesion of Spray.Bike. We recommend using pure medical-grade alcohol as the ultimate pre-paint cleaner, but be sure to remove any residue with absorbent kitchen paper. Do not use acetone or products containing acetone as they are one of the ingredients guaranteed to weaken Spray.Bike.

Spraying

Understanding the spray distance and following it is important. These are the distances from the can you are holding to the metal being sprayed. They vary depending on the product.

During spraying, always keep the bike can in a vertical position. If the can is held horizontally, the propellant gas rather than the paint will be forced into the nozzle, resulting in a high-pressure spray blob that lands unevenly as blobs rather than paint.
To ensure an even coating, always keep your hand moving continuously while spraying. Corrections can be made later at any time - do not apply too much paint in one coat.
If you plan to reuse the paint after storage, test the spray first. If the paint appears splattered, the existing nozzle may be clogged, so replace it.

Polishing

For the best results, always polish the spray. Use kitchen paper or a soft cloth that does not produce lint to polish the painted bike. The gentle pressure and polishing action compress the paint surface and enhance its strength. This is best done within 2 hours after spraying, as it is before the paint fully cures. Pay extra attention to areas where colors meet to avoid physically smearing the colors.

Drying

Patience is key to achieving the best results. Although the coating appears to dry rapidly (touch-dry within seconds), it is always best to allow 12 hours for the paint to fully dry before rebuilding the bike.

Troubleshooting

It is common to acquire areas where the paint landed as a powder (and the surface is rough), but this can be easily resolved. Once the paint is completely dry, lightly rub the surface with a soft cloth to smooth it out.

If a mistake is made (such as placing the color in the wrong spot or applying the product excessively), wait for the spray to dry completely (up to 2 hours). Then, gently rub off the paint using very fine sandpaper or other abrasive materials. Do not use traditional solvent-based paint removers as they will damage Spray.Bike's acrylic compound and create more confusion.

Using FLURO

Due to the reflective pearlescent particles, FLURO colors have a slightly rougher texture compared to other ranges.
It is strongly recommended to lightly rub the paint after approximately 1 hour of application using a soft cloth.

Using Pocket Clears

These are ideal for creating glazes on raw metal tubes and subtly changing the base color, fade, or shade (refer to the blends below). While the single-color spray distance is 5-12 cm, for these Pocket Clears, note that they contain Frame Builder's Transparent Finish, so the spray distance should be at least 20cm.

Utilizing the Keirin Collection

The Keirin Collection consists of 6 metallic flake options for the transparent finish of frame builders. They can be used on Spray.Bike colors to provide an amazing sparkling finish. Alternatively, they can be used over factory paint to add a unique shimmer effect to the frame. You can layer all the colors to create specific color flake mixes. We recommend applying 2 coats.

Blending

Use Pocket Clear for blending. This can cause rapid and dramatic color changes when combined with solid colors, especially on top of a full clear over a solid color. Pocket Clear is a solid pigment with a transparent base layer, so the final color depends on the combination of solid and clear used. For example, Full Royal Yellow Clear over Blue will result in Green. Use it at the junction where two dramatic colors meet to create a fade. Practice a little to achieve great results.

Masking and Stenciling

If using masking techniques (such as masking tape) or stencils, make sure to wait for at least 20 minutes after the initial coating to allow the paint to dry sufficiently and prevent it from peeling off when removed.
Masking can create lines where the paint adheres to the edge of the mask. Wait another 20 minutes after removing the stencil/mask to ensure that the adhesion is not pulled away. Let it dry for at least 2 hours and then remove any excess color coat by rubbing it with a soft cloth.

Caution:
No open flames.
Perform the work in a well-ventilated area.
Wear protective masks, goggles, and gloves to avoid inhaling solvent vapors, getting them in your eyes, or coming into contact with your skin.
Do not stand downwind when working outdoors.
Spraying too close or exceeding the recommended distance may cause uneven surfaces due to the paint drying before it adheres.

Precautions during painting:
Ensure the painted surface is completely clean and dry before use.
Shake the spray can well before use (approximately 3 minutes).
Perform a test spray for 2-3 seconds initially, then spray from a distance of 5-10cm away from the painted surface.
If the spray and painted surface are too far apart, it may result in graininess on the paint, so spray from a closer distance.
Keep your hand in motion and do not stop.
For the second coat, wait for at least 30 minutes to prevent dripping.
After use, turn the can upside down and spray for 2 seconds to prevent nozzle clogging.
