BROOKLYN MACHINE WORKS is a brand from Brooklyn, New York.
The only fixed gear bike in BMW's lineup.
GANGSTA V4 is back. (How many years has it been?)

The body of the customer who reserved the BLACK model was finally finished the other day, so
I'm going to borrow it for a bit and check out the bike for the first time in a while. (How long has it been?)

This is the head tube view.
To increase strength, the head parts have an integral design in which the bearings fit inside the pipe.
The light reflects off the curves of the upper and lower pieces that hold the bearings, creating a very beautiful effect.

The pure white logo is so over the top that it will be washed out unless the camera's shutter speed is minimized.
The combination of a black frame and white logo is also seen in DOSNOVENTA, but this is a wonderful example of its incredible simplicity.
It has a very urban feel.

A few years ago, when it came in as a used item, I hesitated about buying it, but then I put it together with the parts I had and rode it home.
At the time, I thought, "What is this heavy frame?"
I thought so, but it didn't quite meet the lightness and smoothness that I was looking for, so I decided not to buy it.

but...,
My impression after assembling and riding it was that "depending on the parts, it can become an extremely good bike."
In other words, the parts I put together at the time were not good.

And as time passed, making use of the lessons learned from the previous time,
As for how I decided on the parts this time... (The following is a long story as usual)

Being a brand primarily focused on BMX, toughness is their biggest selling point, so it's expected that the frame will be somewhat "heavy," but the weight of over 3500g including the fork is still quite hard.

The details, designs, and brand background all appeal to men,
There's no doubt that it's a really cool frame,
For people who don't do tricks (like me), this model could just be a heavy bike.

In order to overcome the weight, which is the only and biggest drawback, the front wheel is changed to a BROTURES T3 CARBON WHEEL.
The handlebar is a THOMSON carbon riser bar.
This ensures overall weight reduction and quick steering.

As for the tires, we discussed a lot about whether we could use thicker ones, and also wanted to be able to ride over small bumps and on rainy days, so we decided on the CONTINENTAL GATOR SKIN 32c.
(The maximum allowable size of the rear tire is 30c according to the manufacturer's published values,
If you stretch the chain to its limit, it will work.)

Won't the wider tires end up making the car feel heavier?
As I had some concerns about this, I went big and went with the SG75 crank.
It's a power play on par with Ohtani-san's.
The cogs are EURO-ASIA, and the DLX is black to match the frame color.
The gear ratio is set to a relatively light 2.82.

The seat post is set at the appropriate saddle height, and the saddle is my personal favorite.

By introducing carbon parts, the overall weight of the car can be significantly reduced.
The light gear ratio allows for strong acceleration right from the start!

What's great about frames with a sloping shape like GANGSTA is that they are fast from the very beginning.
It was a light ride that didn't even feel like the tires were 32c.
Also, since it is not light, it is difficult to slow down.
(It might be easier to understand how it doesn't slow down if you think of it as being like a large truck.)

The new GANGSTA has great design and details, and its specifications are also impeccable.
By carefully considering and assembling the parts, we were able to create a bike that perfectly meets the rider's needs.
