Essential Handlebar Picks for Aspiring Tr...

Hey there, Kazu here from BROTURES.

A big shoutout to everyone joining us at the BROSAKA TRICK SCHOOL! It’s been amazing guiding and advising you all after hours, so if you’re intrigued by tricks, come join us next time! This blog post is for those thinking of diving into the world of bike tricks. Let’s talk handlebars in Part 1 of our recommended parts series.

Why focus on handlebars?
Most bikes, especially fixed gears bought off the shelf, come with drop handlebars. While seasoned road bikers might find drops familiar and easier for bike control, for trick newbies, riser bars could be a game-changer. They offer a wider handle stance and enhance stability, significantly reducing the fear factor. To ease into trick riding, let’s explore some riser bars that can help eliminate the difficulty.

NITTO for SHRED BAR φ31.8 BLACK ¥10,230-(INC. TAX) SILVER ¥9,790-(INC. TAX)

First up, my personal go-to, the NITTO for shred BAR. If you're contemplating riser bars, you can't go wrong with this popular and stable choice.

I prefer a flatter handle for trick bikes, and this hits the spot with its ease of use and strong, treated aluminum material from NITTO, making it durable for any trick you throw at it. After three years and plenty of falls, mine’s still in perfect shape.

by BROTURES WIDE LOW RISER ¥7,700-INC. TAX

Next, we have the WIDE LOW RISER from by BROTURES. I’m currently planning a second trick bike and considering this handlebar for it. Designed flatter than the shred bar, its look really appeals to me. Though I haven’t tricked out with it yet, I’m confident it’s going to feel great – stay tuned for a review blog once it’s set up!

DEDA Streetissimo Riser Bar ¥6,930-INC. TAX

Lastly, the DEDA Streetissimo. While wide riser bars are trending, a look back at old riding videos and trick montages shows most riders used short riser bars. This bar offers a retro vibe with its uprise, making front-up tricks and rotations like KEOSPIN easier. Personally, I find wider bars easier for tricks, but handlebar preference varies widely, so experimenting to find the perfect fit is key.

That’s a wrap on a few of my top handlebar recommendations for trick beginners.

Remember, these are my personal insights, so if you’ve got a handlebar recommendation, feel free to share!

Our TRICK SCHOOL usually runs on the second and third Saturdays of the month from 20:30. Check our blog or Instagram for the exact location and dates – the next session is on May 13th (Saturday)!

Looking forward to seeing you there.
