Store manager's nonsense blog Vol.1 -Vint...

I don't know if this is actually going to be a series, but I'm going to write about the store manager's nonsense that the staff members don't write about.

Therefore, it doesn't matter if you read it or not. LOL This information is meaningless to some people. lol

To commemorate the occasion, the first article will be about ``Used and Vintage'' .

When I look around at the things around me, I see a lot of vintage items lying around, and I don't seem to be attracted to things that are new or this season's models.

What I often think about is, Difference between used and vintage.

These two words are often thought of as being the same, but when you look into their contents, they seem to have completely different essences. (Very personal opinion)

First, it's second-hand.

Something that has been used once in human hands. Items that are no longer needed because they are outdated or need to be replaced with new items. The image that comes to mind when referring to the word second-hand goods is, sadly, that of used items sold at a bargain price.

On the other hand, vintage.

Regarding this, it seems that there is an appeal hidden within the words that makes you want to try your hand at it. I'm sure many people feel that way. Regarding this vintage, phrases that come to mind that really stimulate the desire to purchase are ``things that are valued even after a certain period of time'', ``things that are worth more than their selling price at the time'', and ``things that are difficult to obtain''. .

The two words may seem like synonyms, but the meanings hidden behind them are completely different. It's no exaggeration to say that vintage isn't just about buying things, it's about buying the history itself that has been passed down.

The person I respect the most once said , ``Obtaining a vintage item means ``keeping it.'' If you take good care of it, it will last far longer than a person's lifetime, and I'm sure that we will... I've heard people say, ``Even if I die, they'll probably still be around. I guess people buy them because they want them to stay.'' After hearing this, I began to develop a love for things and a deeper sense of the importance of knowing history, and began to make an effort to learn more. Vintage doesn't just mean it's expensive.

In other words, what I'm trying to say is that the world of "vintage" is beautiful, as it is appreciated even after the passage of time. That's the story.

Now let's move on to bicycles. The frame consists of two triangles, two wheels, no transmission, and can move forward or backward. The piste bike that we sell is recognized as one of the oldest bicycle structures. Its history is actually worth two centuries. We must not forget the miracle that, after many twists and turns, we were able to sell it with our own hands in 2024.

For example, GIBSON's Les Paul. Even if you don't play guitar, you've probably seen this one before.

One that was created by Les Paul in 1952. The look that everyone associates with an electric guitar. There are over 100 million models manufactured between 1957 and 1959, and the cracks and scratches that mark the era are even referred to as "relics." While many things change shape with the times, this Les Paul has always been this way. The GT-R has become like a mouse pad. A TV is only about 1cm thick.

Similarly with fixie bikes, the techniques and ideas cultivated by our predecessors, successes and failures all have meaning, and how many people are involved in this industry, how many people have good thoughts, and how many people Did a person drink bitterness? Just thinking about it makes it a romantic ride. That's the bicycle we sell.

Among the long history, CINELLI RASER is a typical expensive vintage bike. In modern times, CANNONDALE TRACK (commonly known as Cantra) is a popular vintage piste.

Cinelli RASER

Cannondale Track

It just happened to be the same color though lol It has unique aero processing, an aluminum frame and iron fork. I imagine that the product was a kind of gamble for the brand, and as a result of winning that gamble, many people are still staring at each other online. I envy those who already have it. There is no doubt that this is a bike that you will want to pass down to future generations.

And recently, 20-inch vintage BMX is also experiencing a resurgence of popularity.

Personally, I'm aiming for the CINELLI MX-1 and Matthews Monoshock, and I only know of one store in Japan that sells them, but no matter how many times I ask, they refuse, saying they can't sell them. ,,. I think it's because he knows the history so deeply that he can't let it go. That makes me want it even more. lol

CINELLI MX-1

Matthews MONOSHOCK

Okay, this iron chin blade fork. Since the monoshock runs along the side of the seat tube, the frame seems to break if you take a lot of curves, so it seems that it was only manufactured for 2-3 years from 1974 to 1976, so it's rare to find a bike in good condition. . If you have any sightings or are willing to sell them, please call the store. lol

In this way, I would be happy if someday the bicycles we sell will be treated as vintage and I can become an old man and hear people say things like, ``That year's LEADER is really cool, isn't it?'' or ``That DOSNOVENTA isn't sold anywhere else.'' Nato. Fixie bikes are definitely a vehicle that should continue to be ridden for the next 100 years, and I don't think we should lose them in our generation in the sense of connecting the times.

As one of them, I continue to work at the shop, and as one of them, I want everyone to get their hands on a fixie bike too.

Well, it's a long story, and it's not a commercial story, so I'm sure no one would write such nonsense lol. I'll try my best to write once in a while when I find the mood. Thank you for reading to the end.

See you all again at BROTURES Harajuku!
