Drive the LEGACY, which can also be used ...

The double whammy of cypress pollen and yellow sand is dealing a fatal blow.
According to the doctor, I have terminal sinusitis, or what is commonly known as "sinusitis."
When I list the symptoms - headache, facial pain, runny nose, fatigue, fever and chills - it feels like I'm suffering from a curse.

Hello, I'm Miya, a man who has become a full-fledged drug junkie, regularly using over eight different types of medication.
(It's not a cold, so please feel free to come to the store.)

Well, today.

TYRANT BIKES LEGACY
The long-awaited frame was restocked in Japan the other day, and the size is perfect.

TYRANT BIKES LEGACY

about.
As you know, this is the only chromoly (steel) frame among TYRANT BIKES, which is LEADER's premium line.
First, let's talk about this material called "chromoly."

Due to the effects of COVID-19 and war, the cost of raw aluminum has skyrocketed, making it more difficult to obtain with each passing day, but the material known as "chromoly" is once again beginning to attract attention.
To give a more familiar example, all of Japan's "keirin" frames are made from chromoly material.
(Mamachari bicycles are mainly made of a lower grade material called "Hi-Ten.")

Recently, the frame `` DON FANGO '', developed in collaboration with DONTZER, and `` VENDETTA '' from Peru in South America are also made of chromoly.

The biggest feature of chromoly is that it "flexes" when subjected to load.
This not only absorbs shock from the ground for a comfortable ride, but its high flexibility means it is less susceptible to resistance from uneven ground surfaces, which ultimately has the advantage of " maintaining speed less likely to drop ."

Track loss reference image

In off-road racing such as "Trackcross" (※), which has been gaining attention in recent years, chromoly material is extremely useful because it can flex to effectively avoid damage caused by drops when going over rough roads or man-made obstacles.
That means it's tough and durable.
The Truck Cross is an extremely hard race that can leave you completely covered in mud, and aluminum pipes can't withstand the impacts and can eventually break.

*Cyclocross is an off-road race on track bikes (fixed gear bikes).

In addition, while the general lifespan of aluminum and carbon frames is said to be 10 to 20 years, the lifespan of chromoly frames is said to be several decades to over half a century if properly maintained.

In fact, in one restoration project (frame repair by a builder) that BROTURES Kichijoji took on last year, the chromoly frame that was brought in was actually made in 1975.
The frame was inherited from his grandfather, who was a huge bicycle enthusiast, and is made of chromoly, a long-lasting material that can be passed down to grandchildren.

Of course, it is a little heavier and more prone to rust than aluminum or carbon, but this can be covered by choosing the right parts and performing maintenance.

So, among the chromoly frames that are sure to come full circle and become the next generation standard, the one that is currently particularly popular locally (in the US) is the TYRANT BIKES LEGACY frame.

The LAGECY is a fixed gear bike that can wear wide tires, is gentle on the body, has plenty of eyelets and is highly expandable. Its popularity is perhaps only natural when you consider the country's conditions, where roads are not as well maintained as in Japan and off-road riding is becoming commonplace as soon as you go a little out of the country.

That doesn't mean I can't do well in Tokyo, but of course not. As I wrote in a previous Staff Bike Check blog, I currently don't own a single aluminium frame, and both of the bikes I use are made of chromium molybdenum.

I particularly like its smooth acceleration and the supple ride that absorbs shocks from the road.

This has gotten long, but this is what it would be like for me to drive around Tokyo in this LEGACY .

VELOCITY A23 Custom Wheels

This time, I went for an all-black selection of parts, from the handlebars to the rear wheel (the whole bike is glued from head to toe).

The thing I focused on the most was to make sure I could feel the good acceleration and speed that only a fixed gear bike can offer. (And the cost performance.)

CONTINENTAL GRAND PRIX TIRE

The front tire is CONTINENTAL GRAND PRIX.

CONTINENTAL is a German tire manufacturer with over 150 years of history.
The goal is to create a horse logo that even people who are not familiar with bicycles have probably seen at least once (or maybe even noticed).

Among them, the GRAND PRIX is very reasonably priced at 6,600 yen including tax, and uses the same compound (mixture for gripping the road surface) as the company's flagship model, the GRAND PRIX 5000 (GP5000), providing amazing driving performance.

Compared to the top-of-the-line model GP5000, it has a lower TPI value, which determines "suppleness," and is slightly heavier at 270g compared to 240g for the GP5000, so it is firmly ranked lower. However, if you are currently using tires that come as part of a completed bike or have never used CONTINENTAL tires, I would recommend starting with the GRAND PRIX.
You'll be amazed.

CONTINENTAL GATORSKIN

For the rear tire, we chose GATORSKIN, the company's strongest tire.

This is a must-buy tire, especially for fixed gear riders who tend to experience rapid wear on their rear tires.
Even if the rubber on the surface wears off and only the wire inside remains, it will still run.
His behavior is exactly like that of a man who never collapses even in death.
In other words, it's like, "This guy died standing up...!"

Of course, if it gets worn down to that extent you will have to replace it, but the point is that it is that sturdy.

What we would like you to pay attention to, more than the individual brands, is that both the front and rear tires are 28c size.
The 28c size (28mm width) is already becoming mainstream in the world road racing scene.

"I want to go fast" = "I'll use narrow tires (23c or smaller)" It goes against conventional wisdom and, from a mechanical standpoint, aerodynamics and friction don't have much of an impact up to around 28c, so it's increasingly being chosen by riders who place a higher priority on stability and comfort.
(Some riders change tire widths depending on the course.)

Of course, I'm a complete end user, but I don't want to lose the sense of speed, but at the same time I'm afraid of the tires slipping on rainy days, so I'm really happy that 28c tires are starting to gain acceptance.

BROOKS saddle

As an aside, the saddle is the all-weather BROOKS CAMBIUM ALL WEATHER.
The tail on the back is a TOPEAK fender (mudguard).
Personally, I ride fixed-gear bikes even on rainy days, and I hope people will ride them if they don't mind.

Firm grip on the road
Reliable toughness even when riding hard on your commute to work or school
Slightly wider 28c tires for a stable ride

What is born when these elements are combined with the elements of LEGACY (chromoly)...?
He must be in good condition. In fact, he can't be in bad condition.

So, while I was explaining, I started to want to ride it myself,
I think it's a very realistic customization that's perfect for moving around in urban areas.
While also incorporating trends that reflect the times,
Due to its high expandability, you can enjoy various customizations in the future (like playing with tiger crossbows or playing on forest roads!)

Isn't the appeal of LEGACY, being able to have so much fun with just one device, amazing?

If you want to take advantage of your vehicle's off-road potential in urban areas, how about customizing it like this?

We look forward to your order.
Well then.
