This is a personal matter, but I recently started riding TYRANT BIKES' BEASTIE.
I had been interested in this model for a long time, but when Oscar, a TYRANT sponsored rider, came to Osaka the other day, my interest in it suddenly reached its peak, and before I knew it, I had bought it.

 


After all, it looks really weird when people from other countries ride fixie bikes.
I wonder what it is, it's so sneaky.
But I guess that's what influence is all about after all.
Oscar is a famous real messenger over there, and was even featured on the cover of the bicycle magazine ``LOOP MAGAZINE.''


The BEASTIE ridden by such people was truly a beast.
She is about 190cm tall and has a ridiculously large frame size of XXL. I also attached a 130mm long stem and am running without brakes.
When I saw that, I felt even more proud that I was riding the same TYRANT frame.


I already decided to buy it the day after I ran with all the BROTURES members.
It was a quick attack. All that's left to do is worry about the color. I also wanted to ride it, so I decided pretty quickly.

You can clearly see the difference in riding comfort caused by changing the frame.I made it all with parts I had on hand.


THOMSON CARBON FLAT BAR
After all, if I was going to ride this frame, I wanted to build it with long risers.
I use a flat bar because it suits me best among riser bars.
I like the fact that I can ride with quite a forward lean, and I also like the look because there is a big gap between the saddle and the saddle.


The BEASTIE has a long top tube, so depending on your height, a short stem might be a better fit.
Actually, I'm currently using 110mm, but I'm wondering if it could be made a little shorter.
However, a fixie bike is one that you want to ride without overdoing that and giving priority to appearance. I think I'll stick with this length for now.


THOMSON MASTERPIECE SEATPOST
Along with the handlebars, the seatpost has also been unified in branding.
The MASTERPIECE series is an even thinner model of the standard ELITE, and its lightness is comparable to carbon.
Honestly, it's lighter and lighter than the boring carbon parts.
I use the straight type without offset, but if you are thinking about long rides, you may want to choose the one with offset. Since the BB height is high, I think it is still easy to get speed.

Oscar was also wearing PHILWOOD, so I copied that and used wheels with the same brand of hub.
After all, carbon wheels offer a smoother ride, so I want everyone to use them.
In particular, BEASTIE has a frame that uses 6061 aluminum, and is characterized by a soft ride even among aluminum frames.
Therefore, the compatibility with carbon wheels was also quite good.


As you probably know about PHILWOOD's PRO TRACK, it spins quite a bit.
The weight of the tube valve alone causes it to sway forever.
This hub uses carbonite bearings with grease adjustment, so if you are thinking about customizing wheels for races or long rides, this hub is a must-have.
The number of holes varies, so it can be assembled with either aluminum or carbon rims.


When I compared it to my other piste bikes, I noticed how stable it felt.
Since it was named BEASTIE, I thought it would be a difficult-to-handle, unruly horse-like frame that would be chosen by the rider.
But when I got on it, it was a very comfortable ride.
The 28mm offset front fork also allows for smooth turning due to the balance between the head angle and seat angle, and the wheelbase is 955mm, neither too tight nor too long, so it has high straight-line stability.

In short, I felt that the frame wasn't a beast, but that the person who rode it was so addicted to it that they became a beast.

Also, this is something I'm really happy about, the overall design is a little smaller than the size notation.
Therefore, the standover height (height from the ground to the top of the top tube when straddling the top tube) is designed to be slightly lower than others.


This means that even those who normally choose size S may be able to get M.
Sports bikes are generally designed with M size as the most beautiful balance, and the geometry of the upper and lower sizes is calculated from there.
I would normally choose S, but I'm really happy to be able to go one size up.
That's what I felt.

TYRANT BIKES' BEASTIE can be ridden as a complete bike for ¥154,000-INTAX.
I thought it was a very cost-effective frame.
