"TRACK COG" will be released by By BROTURES!

Customization is recognized as the biggest attraction of fixed gear bikes.

And the most distinctive feature of a fixed gear bike is its "fixed gear".

Fixed gears give you a riding experience that makes you feel as if you are one with the horse. Of course you can move forward, but if you pedal backwards you can move backwards. You can freely control the speed of your bike just by pedaling hard or hard. You can even enjoy doing little tricks. This one small gear greatly expands the possibilities of fixed gear bikes. That part is called a "track cog."

It took a year of hard work, with staff members coming to an agreement on numerous points of view before this final product was born, and it's an item we're very happy with. It's finally time to release it!

By BROTURES TRACK COG ¥6,600 (tax included)

15T/17T/18T

This time we have prepared a number of teeth that are easy to use. Should you set it up to prioritize top speed or initial speed? Please consider and reconsider the settings depending on your hometown and riding style.

Please see the gear ratio chart for reference.

The red underlined part indicates the gear ratio of this product. It is the number of times the rear wheel rotates when you turn the pedal once . The recently released ALLDAY CRANK is set to 49T, so it is a perfect match.

For example, if you live in a hilly area of Tokyo, you can select 17T or 18T and set the gear ratio to 2.7-2.8, which will make pedaling easier and make it easier to climb hills. This gear ratio overcomes the biggest concern for people who buy fixed gear bikes: "Can I climb hills?"

As for the compatibility of 15T and ALLDAY CRANK, this is a setting that emphasizes top speed and is recommended for people living in areas with few hills, such as Osaka City. When used in conjunction with ALLDAY CRANK, the gear ratio becomes 3.27, which makes it easier to maintain top speed than a gear ratio of 2.7 or 2.8. Although it's only a world of 0.1 or 0.2, I want you to think that the pedaling sensation is quite different with each gear ratio.

Next, let's talk about the skid point. This is the point where the tire is worn down when skidding with the same pedal position . Please see the table below for reference.

For example, in the case of a gear ratio of 3.00, the rear wheel rotates exactly three times for every rotation of the pedal, so the skid point is naturally "1". The tire will only be worn down in one place. The more skid points there are, the more evenly the tire will be consumed, so you can make the most of the tire's lifespan. In other words, the more skid points there are, the better. This is also something to consider when setting up a fixed gear bike.

However, to be honest, it takes time and money to find the optimal solution for these settings. Especially the cost. Even the cheapest cog in the EURO-ASIA lineup of existing brands costs around 15,000 yen, so it was difficult to try customizing the gears. However , this item is 6,600 yen including tax. For example, I think it would be a good idea to use two cogs, one 17T and one 18T, and use them differently. I would like everyone to enjoy the pursuit of settings, which is the unique pleasure of fixed gear bikes, with this opportunity. That is why I was particular about making it at this price setting.

Also, deterioration due to rust is a frequent cause of problems in this area. Since this is an important section that supports the ride, deterioration here can have a significant impact on the ride.

I see these rusted cogs all the time. Maybe your car is in the same condition? That's why we selected the material for this product : "stainless steel."

Aside from ensuring strength, stainless steel is also resistant to rust. If you use it on a daily basis, it will be exposed to rain. Not everyone can store it indoors. I'm sure everyone has had the experience of having to store it outdoors and it rusting. However, this stainless steel is less likely to rust than regular iron even with heavy use, and its teeth are also strong. It is truly the unsung hero that supports your running.

And finally the details.

This time, CNC ( They are made using a method called Computer Numerical Control (CNC) processing, where numerical values are input into a computer and then cut out. Unlike casting, which is done by pouring iron into a mold, they are carefully cut out from a block of material and finished. This is also a commitment to strength. A representative example of a brand that BROTURES handles is THOMSON.

*The photo shows the production scene of THOMSON X4 STEM.

This method eliminates the individual differences in dimensions caused by drills and bits, and allows for the creation of a uniform quality for all parts, but it also produces a lot of unnecessary material, so it is generally used for expensive parts. This is the method we used for our cogs.

The CNC manufacturing process has three aims: "Lightweight by hollowing out the material," "Noise reduction," and "Easy chain release."

First of all, we made it lighter. Only the 17T and 18T cogs, which are in high demand, have been hollowed out. By using stainless steel, we were able to ensure robust strength while still achieving a lightweight design that was possible only with CNC machining. When riding with a fixed gear, this part is subject to extremely high stress, so it is extremely difficult to achieve both lightness and strength at a high level.

And finally Let's explain these two together: "Overcoming noise" and "Easy chain release." The most important thing to overcome these issues is to have a finish that is as close to a perfect circle as possible, and to rotate evenly and cleanly without any tooth runout.
First, this part with the red line. The quality of the chain release will change depending on whether this part is as close to a perfect circle as possible and whether the teeth are even. For example, if the cog is elliptical and has low precision, or the teeth are uneven and do not rotate evenly, the chain tension will not be uniform, the chain will not release well, and it will make strange noises. This is an area that is difficult to check with the naked eye, but there is a huge difference when you actually compare the two.
*The photo shows a EURO-ASIA product.
This issue has been completely overcome with the new TRACK COG, resulting in an item that rotates beautifully, is nearly perfectly circular, and turns the chain smoothly.

As this is an item that was highly coveted by the By BROTURES staff, we put a lot of effort into it. We've finally released it after waiting for a long time. With the best season coming up, why not take a look at the gear ratio settings that are best for you?

For purchases and inquiries, please visit any BROTURES store or online site.

*Due to product reasons, only the 15T will not have any hollowing as shown in the image.
